Have you ever been faced with a dilemma? Or a situation you just can’t figure out? Have changes happened in your life that leave you questioning what your next move will be? Or what those next steps might be to bring order into your life?

I think we all face uncertain times at one point in our lives. It is hard to figure out what to do. What the first step might be or even the next step and then the next. It can be a confusing time, down right heart wrenching at times. Things happen that are out of our control and it leaves us feeling helpless, maybe even hopeless. But what do you do first?

This has happened to me many times in my life. Recently, my father passed away. It has been extremely difficult for me to navigate these waters of grief, responsibilities that have been placed in my hands and just knowing what to do next. I have been taking care of my mother. I have moved her into my home for now. But I am trying to figure out what the next step will be for her care. It is a long process and if I am honest, it has been most difficult. I haven’t really had time to grieve my dad’s passing because I am in the driver’s seat so to speak and making decisions that will affect me and my mom and my family.

Things happen that change the course of our lives. But how do we maneuver through it? I believe it is a matter of trusting God. Question is, will you trust God? God is patient and loving and He will be there for you when you can’t see through the tunnel of confusion. He will provide the way through. He will give you favor, provide answers to questions, meet needs you didn’t even know you had and have people come into your situation that will love you and guide you through the process.

So I would say the first step is to take it to the Lord. Give it over to Him. Ask Him for help. That’s what He wants from us. When we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior we become His child, His responsibility. He wants to be the One we turn to even before we have nowhere else to go. We have to realize we are no longer our own. “And if you belong to Christ, then you are now Abraham’s “child” and a true heir of all his blessings because of the promise God made to Abraham!” (Galatians 3:29 TPT) “Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3 TPT)

When we reach a point of saturation or hit a wall we must trust in the One that knows us the best. The Word of God says, “We were created by God in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them,” (Ephesians 2:10 NKJV) So if we are God’s workmanship He will also establish in us a masterpiece for His glory. We have to allow His hand upon us to create what He chooses. In other words, He won’t fail us! I look to Psalms 91:1 when I am confused or frightened and can’t make sense of things. “When you abide under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden in the strength of God Most High.” But if you go alittle further it says, “He’s the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence.” (Psalms 91:2-3 TPT) Question is, do you believe this is truth? Your truth? Your promise from God Himself? If so, why wait? Why not take it to Him a lot sooner? In our human frailty we try to figure things out on our own until “we hit the wall.” At least, I do. But I am learning I can’t always figure things out on my own and God never asked me to do that. And that’s a good thing!

God is our shelter in the storms of life. When we abide under His shadow He prostrates Himself over us to shield us, protect us and sometimes, speak softly to us. He is our strength when we feel weak or inadequate for the tasks in front of us. And He is our hope. Our hope that lets us know He’s got us! He won’t fail us. He won’t be late and He will show up at the precise moment we need Him the most. And that means we can have great confidence in Him. The One that knows us best; cares and loves us every single step we take. So trust in Him first and always. Let Him in. Let Him do what only He can do. God will show up and it will be unmistakable. Don’t take my word for it. Take God at His Word.
