Little Things

Little Things

This morning as I was putting my dog out I saw a beautiful red cardinal in my backyard. I watched this little bird for a while. It lingered in one spot in my yard and then perched himself on the edge of a stone and just looked at me. It was’t long, but it was long enough. I heard the Lord say to me, “I see you”.

If you know me well, you know how much I love these little red birds. At Christmas time they are all over my tree. Friends have given me different gifts pertaining to cardinals. I love their red color. I just think they are stunning.

But this morning I knew the Lord was reminding me that He is always there; always with me and knows how to get my attention. I believe the Lord knows a person’s heart. When He speaks to me my spirit quickens to listen. It’s undeniable. But it does take faith. The Lord will speak to people in many different ways. The way He speaks to me maybe different for you. But if you listen closely and anticipate (my favorite word) He will communicate with you. And it will be remarkable and again, undeniable. “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10:27 NKJV)

“Jesus responded, “If you have even the smallest measure of faith, it would be powerful enough to say to this large tree, ‘My faith will pull you up by the roots and throw you into the sea,’ and it will respond to your faith and obey you.” Wow! That’s powerful! I know you might feel inadequate in your faith at times. I know I do. But because Jesus loves us so much, if you ask Him to increase your faith, He will. You might feel at times that your love for Him isn’t enough. You can ask Him to help you love Him like He loves you. I have asked Jesus to help me fall in love with Him; to increase my faith in Him. You know how He does that? He does it by pouring His love into you. And that too will increase your faith in Him. He shows up for you when you least expect it. Before long you will find yourself anticipating His next move. You will look for it with excitement. And He responds to your enthusiasm. He will be in the big things in your life, but you will also find Him in the little things. There are a million little moments that make up your day and that’s where you will find Jesus.

His light broke through the darkness and He led us out in freedom from death’s dark shadow and snapped every one of our chains.
